Please be advised the Massachusetts State Laws for Issuance of Building Permits below:

The Tenth Edition of the MA State Building Code 780 Section 105 Permits; 105.3.1 Action on Application; The building official shall examine or cause to be examined applications for permits and amendments, and shall issue or deny the permit in writing, within 30 days of filing

However, the actual time it takes can vary depending on several factors:

Complexity of the project: Simple projects like replacement windows or re-roofing might be processed in a matter of days, while larger commercial projects or new home construction may take closer to the full 30 days.

Completeness and accuracy of the application: Incomplete or inaccurate documentation can cause delays as revised documents may be required.

Local zoning requirements and other department approvals: The project may be subject to local zoning requirements and require approvals from other departments, which can affect the timeline.

While the legal limit is 30 days, many permits are issued well before this time frame, especially for less complex projects
