2013 Muscular Dystrophy Association fundraiser
Blackstone Fire - Fill the Boot
On Saturday August 17, 2013, firefighters from the Blackstone Fire Department took part in the annual "Fill the Boot" fundraiser to help support the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). The volunteers spent the morning collecting donations from many giving citizens. Donations are given directly to the MDA. Donations are used by the MDA to fund research projects. Researching new drugs and therapies are goals of the MDA. Donations fund educational programs for the general public and for the families of those who have muscular disease. Every year, youths join others with similar diseases at summer camps funded by donations. At the camps, the kids take part in many activities such as arts and crafts, swimming, and sports.
