Guidelines for Open Burning

Burning season runs from January 15, 2019 to May 1, 2019  
Burning will consist of brush only. No grass, stumps, leaves, hay, rubbish, construction materials, or any other materials.
Brush being burned must be at least 75 feet away from any dwelling or structure.
The fire must be attended at all times.
A garden hose or equivalent must be at the burning site during all burning.
Burning will not be permitted until after 10:00 a.m. each day.
All burning will be extinguished by 4:00 p.m. each day. Any burning after hours that the Fire Department has to respond to will be billed for the cost of the call.
Residents are warned that illegal burning is a violation of state law and is punishable  under the D.E.P. and State Fire Marshall’s Office.
Residents who wish to burn must report to the police/ fire dispatch center at 15 St. Paul street to pick up the guidelines for open burning and obtain a burning permit number. This burning permit number will be good for the duration of the burning season. Each day you wish to burn you will have to call and give your name, permit number, and address. Call 508-876-5149 to notify the Blackstone Fire Department that you will be burning.
No burning will be allowed on “red flag” days announced on local weather reports.
*** If you are found in violation of these guidelines, your right to burn will be terminated.
