Animal Control is under the direction of Police Chief, Ross A. Atstupenas.
All dogs over the age of six months are required by law to be licensed with the town. The period of licensing runs on a calendar year and depending of the expiration year of the rabies vaccination, dog owners have the option of licensing for one, two or three years. The licensing period cannot extend beyond the year the rabies vaccination expires. There is a slight discount for dogs that have been altered. Proof of rabies and spaying/neutering must be presented at the time of licensing.
Dog licenses are available in the Town Clerk’s Office Mon.-Thurs. 8:30AM-4:30PM, Fri. 8:30AM-12:00PM and Tues. Evenings 5:30-7:30PM. Please note that town hall hours will be modified during the holidays.
The Animal Control Officer may impose a fine of $25.00 for an unlicensed dog and an additional fine of $50.00 if the dog does not have a current rabies vaccination.
For your convenience, dog licenses may also be obtained through the mail. Please mail the current rabies certificate and proof of spaying/neutering along with your check made payable to the Town of Blackstone:
