CLASSIFICATION HEARING TOWN OF BLACKSTONE
Notice is hereby given of a classification hearing to be held on November 26, 2024, at 7:00 P.M. in the Municipal Center, 15 St. Paul Street, Blackstone, MA. The purpose of this classification hearing is for the Board of Assessors to present information to the Board of Selectmen on the issue of allocating the local tax levy among the five property classes for fiscal year 2025 as provided under Chapter 40, Section 56 of the Massachusetts General Laws as amended by Chapter 369 of the Acts of 1982. This act provides for a local policy decision in regard to the shift of the property tax burden from one class of property to another. Residents of Blackstone are invited to attend this hearing and to present oral and written comments to the Board of Selectmen for their consideration while deliberating toward a decision in regard to this subject. For further information residents are to contact or visit the office of the Town Administrator during normal business hours where a copy of informational guidelines as issued by the Department of Revenue will be available for public inspection.
