[ARCHIVED] UPDATE 2 - New water main break in the Lakeview Street area.

MA Blackstone Town Homepage

UPDATE 1/26/2025 12:25PM - Contractor and Department of Public Works crews are actively working on water main repairs in the affected area. Crews have identified a cracked section of pipe and are in the process of replacing the damaged section. At this time, there is no estimated time for completion, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

During the water main break, shutdown, repairs, and subsequent restoration of water service, residents have experienced and may continue to experience temporary water discoloration. This discoloration is a common result of interruptions to normal water flow and sediment being disturbed within the system, and is not unusual following this type of repair.

Once water service is restored, residents are advised to flush their cold water until it runs clear. The Department of Public Works will also be flushing hydrants, where safe and appropriate, to help clear the system and restore normal operations.

The water remains safe to drink despite any discoloration. If water appears discolored, residents should run the cold-water tap until it clears, as the discoloration is temporary. Residents are advised to check their water before use, particularly prior to doing laundry.

Do not use bleach on stained clothing, as it will permanently set the stain. If rust staining occurs, an iron-removing detergent is available free of charge at the DPW office on Elm Street or at Public Safety Dispatch, 15 Saint Paul Street.
