ROAD CONSTRUCTION NOTICE
Weather permitting, our paving contractor will begin road work construction on May 9, 2016, on Social Street.
Social Street (from Bellingham line to RI state line) will be milled and paved.
The crew will then move over to Rathbun Street project.
Rathbun Street (from Dollard Street to Champlain Avenue) will be milled and paved.
Sidewalks in this area will be replaced.
We will then start the Mendon Street project.
Mendon Street (from Lincoln Street to Milk Street) will be milled and paved.
We will attempt to keep one lane open during all projects.
Residents should expect delays and may want to seek an alternate route.
The Blackstone DPW recognizes that road construction projects can be an inconvenience to residents.

Tips to Prevent Stormwater Runoff Pollution:
*Never dump anything down storm drains or in streams.
*Pick Up after your pet
*Compost your yard waste
*Use fertilizers sparingly and sweep up driveways, sidewalks, and gutters
*Keep storm drains clear
*Dispose of litter properly
The Blackstone Water Department will be flushing water mainsto remove sediments that can cause brown and black water.
The flushing will take place from March 15 until May 15, 2016 on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00 AM TO 2:00 PM.
All customers should be aware that water main flushing will likely cause some temporary water discoloration throughout the community.
The discoloration comes from small particiles of iron and manganese that are removed from the pipe walls.
The discoloration is temporary and typically clears in four to five hours.
It is recommended that residents check the water before use,especially prior to doing laundry.
If rust stains appear on washed clothing or fixtures, and iron removing detergent can be obtained free of charge from the Corrosion Control Facility at 53 Elm Street.
DO NOT TRY TO BLEACH STAINED CLOTHES, THIS WILL SET THE STAIN PERMANENTLY.

Water and Sewer Rates
For 0-10,000 gallons of water used the charge is $60.00.
For 10,001-50,000 gallons used an additional $3.25 per thousand gallons is charged.
For 50,001-100,000 gallons used an additional charge of $4.50 per thousand gallons is charged.
For 100,001 - 999,999 gallons used a final charge of $6.00 per thousand gallons is charged.
For 0-10,000 gallons of sewer used the charge is $100.00.
For 10,001-50,000 gallons used an additional $5.95 per thousand gallons is charged.
For 50,001-100,000 gallons used an additional charge of $8.38 per thousand gallons is charged.
For 100,001 - 999,999 gallons used a final charge of $10.08 per thousand gallons is charged.
